Learn more about elk and elk country at this wildlife center that focuses on conservation.  Besides elk there is also an interesting Lewis & Clark display.  Many of the exhibits are interactive (such as identify animal tracks and test your knowledge areas).   The facility also offers a wooded nature trail where you can often see deer, turkeys and eagles.
FAMILY FRIENDLY PROS-  We liked the variety of information provided and the interactive aspects.  The trail was scenic.
FAMILY FRIENDLY CONS-  The kids were ready to move on past displays rather quickly.

This is a really fun place to visit!  The carousel was completed in 1995 and includes 38 hand carved horses and two chariots.  Each horse is unique as they were carved by a variety of craftsman based on specifications from the horse's "adoptive" parents.    Next door to the carousel is a free playground called Dragon Hollow Play Area.  Your kids are sure to enjoy a stop here!
FAMILY FRIENDLY PROS-  The kids loved the variety of horses.   The playground was a big hit!

Family Friendly Travel Tip:
Older children can use time in the car or airplane to learn a new craft.  There are some great books about learning to knit, crochet and cross-stitch.  Your child will be occupied and have a sense of accomplishment when they have completed a project by the end of the journey.
